The Travelling Companion counts as my first RIPXI read, and it was a great start! Rankin takes a break from his Inspector Rebus books with this short novella.

I loved the setting in 1980’s Paris and the famous Shakespeare & Company bookshop. We meet likeable Ronald Hastie as he carries out an errand for his boss. meeting an enigmatic & elderly collector who has some books to sell.
