Calling time

I wasn’t really intending to write this post until the blog hit its ten-year anniversary in January, but you will have noticed I’ve not been very active around here recently, and I realised that I’d just be writing posts to hit some arbitary date, if I just kept going for no other reason than that.

So, after almost ten years of blogging about books and building up a scarily large TBR pile, I’ve decided to call time and bring regular blogging to an official close here at Bart’s Bookshelf.

That said. I’m not saying there will be no more posts here at all. I’m certainly planning on posting my tradtional end of years posts for instance, and I’ll more than likely do something to mark my ten year blogiversary. I will of course still be talking about books and adding  to that TBR pile over on my Twitter and Instagram.

Many thanks to all the authors, publishers, publicists I’ve worked with all the years, who have trusted me to talk about their books! I’ve discovered many a fantasic read through them.

And obviously many, many thanks to any one who ever stopped by, commented, bookmarked, or added me to their readers (I still mourn the death of Google Reader!) I still intend on seeing you about the virutal bookish world!

Argh. I’ve been too busy to read blogs lately. I’m sorry about this but totally get it. Glad you’re still on IG and Twitter. Think about Litsy!

Ugh. I seem to have a knack for discovering GREAT blogs just when the authors are closing up shop. Seriously. This is like the third one, recently.

I like everything about your blog, from the caricature of you in the top banner to the overall layout and navigation of the site, to the content.

Well, please at least do your new readers a favor and don’t take it down! Give us time to explore it.

I’ll be sad to see you stop blogging Darren but I can completely understand where you’re coming from, I’m closing in on 8 years now and blogging is a huge time commitment!

I’m sure I’ll still see you around on Goodreads & instagram (I’m managing to keep away from twitter for the time being lol).

Just think how much more reading time you’ll have now 🙂
