R.I.P III [Completed]

Via: Carl V of Stainless Steel Droppings.
There is just something about this time of year, when the ghosts of past Autumns and the Autumn to come chase away the dog days of summer, that entices one to read books that fit into the above categories.
It was a desire share the love of eerie, creepy, things-that-go-bump-in-the-night literature that brought me into the online reading challenge game for the first time back in September of 2006. My goals today, in this its third iteration, are no different than the inaugural R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril Challenge:
1. Have fun reading.
2. Share that fun with others. It is that simple. Read on.
Carl is offering 3 different versions of the challenge, to cater for those who what a ‘real’ challenge and those who just want to ‘play along’ as I’m somewhere in the middle I’ve plumping for: (although I reserve the right up this to Peril the First (4 Books) if I get carried away!)

Peril the Second:
Read Two books of any length, from any sub genre of scary stories that you choose.
- Three Shadows, by Cyril Pedrosa
- Witch Hill, by Marcus SedgwickOkay, as I have another 2 suitable books on the go at the moment, I’m officially upping this to: Peril the First.
Peril the First:
Read Four books of any length, from any subgenre of scary stories that you choose.
- The Foreshadowing, by Marcus Sedgwick
- Possessing Rayne, by Kate Cann
Bonus Reads
- The Graveyard Book, by Neil Gaiman
- Coraline, by Neil Gaiman

I should have thought of Tithe too…I’ve been meaning to read that series. I will definitely read The Graveyard Book as well!
Nymeth’s last blog post: It’s that time of the year again
Looks like The Graveyard Book is going to be on most peoples lists, not that any of will need the excuse of the challenge to read it!
Tithe, eh? Well keep adding to your list, I know I intend to
I’m in a bit of a reading funk at the moment, so lots of choice and inspiration is a good thing!
I’ve been eyeing the latest Odd Thomas book ..then realized it was a series, so I will be interested in that particular review when you read it!!
Cool list. I really should check out Dean Koontz at some point. I didn’t think to add Charles de Lint’s horror books under a different name, will definitely consider them too thanks for the reminder.

Hmmm, I had fun reading Tithe a couple of years back and I sure read the other books connected to it thereafter. Hope you enjoy reading it as well. I can’t say the same for Shadow in the Wind. Whoops. Then again, maybe it’s just me
Yay, we both have Odd Thomas and The Graveyard Book on our pool! Haven’t really read any Dean Koontz but I heard great things from this book.
Goodluck to all of us joining RIP III!
Lightheaded’s last blog post: Perilous Undertaking
I haven’t read any Koontz either, so I’m looking forward to that one.
The Graveyard Book seems to be making a lot of lists, it seems!

Quixotic’s last blog post: R.I.P. III - A Perilous Challenge Indeed
@Quixotic: Thanks, I’m really looking forward to reading some of these, they’re not really genres that are ‘first picks’ out of my TBR list, so it’s going to be good to have something to encourage me to do just that and pick them up ahead of something else!
