Well, last was just one of those weeks where very little happened, pretty boring really. Last night however was a lot of fun. After a two month break over the summer the Record Club I go to, had its latest night.
Each month the theme is different and last nights was Charity Shop Night. The idea being the only selections that could be played was if you’d picked them up in a charity shop. It was great fun doing a bit of crate digging over the last week or so, to try to pick up some stuff to play.
As you can often pick up singles from as little as 20p in a charity shop and album for a quid or two, it was a great excuse to pick up things you wouldn’t normally. As you can imagine there was a real mix of stuff; some real diamonds, some proper oddities, classic tracks, and plenty of cheese!
I thought I’d share a couple of songs that got played. Now I could have picked some of those diamonds or classics, but let’s face it, you’re probably more interested in the cheese!
First up is one from my childhood and one which only Brits of a certain age are going to get.
Welcome to Captain Beaky and his Band…
Which, was swiftly followed by one that while still a few years old now, was probably more widely known.
(I make no apologies for any earworms caught!)
