To celebrate the release of Philip Reeve’s new novel, Railhead, his publisher Oxford University Press commissioned a number of different artists to create their own interpretations of Railhead characters and cityscapes, with no brief other than the book itself and their own imagination!
I couldn’t be more pleased to be exclusively revealing one of those images today! Those that have been lucky enough to read the book already will have already met Uncle Bugs on the page, hopefully those yet to read the book, will be even more intrigued to meet this character once you’ve seen, Ian McQue’s imagining of him!

About the Book
RAILHEAD is the story of Zen Starling, a petty thief and self-confessed ‘railhead’ who loves to ride the rails to nowhere.
It is set in a far-flung galaxy connected by thousands of gates, linked by indestructible rails – The Great Network, where hundreds of sentient trains criss-cross the universe in seconds.
Zen Starling is chosen by the mysterious and powerful Raven to steal something that has the power to bring everything in this galaxy and the next to an end.
