It’s here!
Carl V, is once again hosting the, Once Upon a Time challenge which begins Saturday, March 21st and ends Friday, June 2oth. I missed out on this one last year having only been book blogging for a couple of months, but out of all the challenges I’ve come across in that time this is the one I’ve been looking forward to the most. (and it you think I might be exaggerating, keep reading to see the provisional reading pool I’ve been keeping back!)
One of the best things about Carl’s challenges is the number of options you can choose to suit, and I’m going to plump for:
![Quest the First Once Upon a Time III [2009] [Complete]](http://www.bartsbookshelf.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/out3q1.jpg)
Read at least 5 books that fit somewhere within the Once Upon a Time III criteria. They might all be fantasy, or folklore, or fairy tales, or mythology…or your five books might be a combination from the four genres.
Now then, the hardest part of this challenge is which one not to read next
A preliminary scan of the shelves throws up the following pool:
- Memory and Dream (Newford)
- Red Prophet (Tales of Alvin Maker, Book 2)
- The Hunting of the Last Dragon
- Anansi Boys
- Wormwood
- Tersias the Oracle
- M is for Magic
- The Amulet of Samarkand (The Bartimaeus Trilogy, Book 1)
- The Dragon Quintet
- The Merlin Conspiracy
- Un Lun Dun
- Dreams Underfoot: A Newford Collection
So, as I was saying, I’ve been looking forward to this one
Books Read!
- The Night Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko
- Apocalypse by Tim Bowler
- The Lost Years of Merlin by T.A. Barron

Ohhh, you have some good ones there!!
My absolute favorite though is The Amulet of Samarkand (The Bartimaeus Trilogy, Book 1) .. i loved loved loved that trilogy!!! nothing like a smart arse demon!
Wow, what a list!!! I too want to get back into de Lint’s Newford world. And you’ve definitely got some good Gaiman there.
Glad you are joining in!!!
You’ve got a great selection of books there. Happy reading!
Thanks!
Good luck!
Thanks!
Well, I own or have read almost all of your books! Great list!
Good to hear that I’ve got some good reading coming up, then! (Any standout books for you in my list?)
Ooo…what a great list! You have a lot on their I’d like to read! I look forward to your reviews.
There will certainly be some coming along, I;m quite looking forward to writing one or two of them!
So much fun! And I’m beyond thrilled to see that you have the Alvin Maker series on there!!! If you read those, I think it’ll be the first review I’ve ever seen of them online. Love that series!
I’ve been keeping the Alvin Maker series specifically for Once Upon a Time, so they will almost definitely be read and reviewed at some point!
Great list! I’m procrastinating on mine; I keep remembering books I have that I haven’t read …
I know that feeling!
This list was made up from a quick scan of what was on my shelves, I’m sure if I had a proper look, I’d find even more!
Great list!! I read Memory and Dream for last year’s challenge. It was one of my favorites of the year. Quite possibly ever. I LOVED that book!
Excellent to hear, I’m hoping it’ll be the De Lint that does it for me. The ones I’ve read so far, have been okay, but they’ve never quite reached WOW status.
You have a wonderful selection of books. I just added Seventh Son and the first Watch book to my amazon wishlist. They look really interesting. Of course, De Lint is one of my favorites. Hope you enjoy. My post is here
Happy Reading.
Great list! Happy reading!
