Well, last was just one of those weeks where very little happened, pretty boring really. Last night however was a lot of fun. After a two month break over the summer the Record Club I go to, had its latest night.

Hello there folks!

A post shared by The Record Club (@therecordclub) on

Each month the theme is different and last nights was Charity Shop Night. The idea being the only selections that could be played was if you’d picked them up in a charity shop. It was great fun doing a bit of crate digging over the last week or so, to try to pick up some stuff to play.

As you can often pick up singles from as little as 20p in a charity shop and album for a quid or two, it was a great excuse to pick up things you wouldn’t normally. As you can imagine there was a real mix of stuff; some real diamonds, some proper oddities, classic tracks, and plenty of cheese!

I thought I’d share a couple of songs that got played. Now I could have picked some of those diamonds or classics, but let’s face it, you’re probably more interested in the cheese!

First up is one from my childhood and one which only Brits of a certain age are going to get.

Welcome to Captain Beaky and his Band…

Which, was swiftly followed by one that while still a few years old now, was probably more widely known.

(I make no apologies for any earworms caught!)

The Record Club sounds like a lot of fun. And the theme this past week sounds even better. Haha Thanks for sharing some of the music played. 🙂 I hadn’t heard either song, but Star Trekkin’ is definitely stuck in my head now. Haha. At least the song that HAD been in my head for days now is finally gone . . . 🙂

I hope you enjoy your new books! Have a great week.

A record club sounds fabulous! I haven’t heard of it before. I have been hemming and hawing about getting a turntable to listen to my old vinyl. It also sounds like it woukd be a great party idea. Have guests bring favorite records to play. Have a stellar new week. 🙂

I’ve probably got a bigger record collection now than I did the first time around! Whilst I love carrying hours of music around on my phone, there is just something more involved in putting a record on a turntable and lowering the needle. You listen to it more I think.

The Record Club sounds like a great place and the Charity Shop night sounds inspired – so much fun.

PS. I’m in Australia and Captain Beaky didn’t make it here! #thankfully!

Oh, dear God in Heaven, why did you put that “lovely” Star Trekkin’ song in my head today?!?!?!?! *strong sarcasm* AHHHHHHHH!!! Totally hysterical song and I bet last night was so fun. And honestly, it is slightly better than some of the stuff my son listens to on Youtube.

Awesome new books this week! You get a lot of physical books. Do you prefer physical or ebook? Just curious… Over here, we get mostly eARCs these days from the Pubs.

    Have a great week!!!!!

If it’s unsolicited or blog tour stuff, then it’s mostly physical copies that are sent out. Stuff you request from offer emails is a mixture, they’ll have a few physical copies, but also a link to Netgalley.
