The Casual Vacancy by JK RowlingIt’s the new JK Rowling! Definitely looking forward to this one. I’ve got a post planned for the near future, where I talk about what I’m looking forward to. Published: 27th September |

Taken by Benedict JackaIt’s actually released this week, but I’m thinking I’ll save it for the end of the month, to read on a flight, as I’m going away for a few days. Published: 06th September |

Dodger by Terry PratchettPterry does Dickens? Oh, yes. I’ll be getting this one! Published: 13th September |

Dark Matter by Michelle PaverI head such good things about this one when it was released a couple of years ago. It’s the perfect time of year to read a good ghost story.

Unrest by Michelle HarrisonUnrest has been sitting on my TBR shelf for ages… Another one I’ve heard nothing but good things about. |

Eleventh Grade Burns by Heather BrewerI really need to get back up to speed with this series, I’ve loved all the previous books. But it’s been a couple of years since I read about Todd’s Tenth Grade. |

The Peculiar by Stefan BachmannA steampunk faery fantasy. Rosi at HarperCollins has been bigging this one up quite a bit. I’m looking forward to seeing if it is as good as it sounds. Published: 20th October |

Hollow Pike by James DawsonI have no idea why this one is still languishing on my TBR shelf. |

Sixty One Nails by Mike ShevdonThis one looks all sorts of dark and broody. Perfect for this time of year. |

I’m SO excited about the Rowling and the Pratchett too…can’t WAIT for them to arrive!!
The Rowling will be arriving just as soon as I can refresh my Kindle on release day!
and Dodger will be getting bought the first opportunity I have to get to the book shop, once it arrives!
Great list. I can’t wait for Carnival of Souls! I have the first four in the Vladimir Tod series on my shelves, only read the first too. I really like them, but they keep ending up at the lower end of my TBR pile… New NB follower.
Happy reading.
My TTT
I have no idea why it Vlad keeps slipping out of my reading piles, because I really liked the previous ones.
Fun bunch of books, looks like a few towards the bottom of your list will count towards RIP which is always a fun reading challenge to do (and I loved Unrest and Hollow Pike) I really need to read Carnival of Souls. I picked it up recently, read maybe 60 pages, put it down and haven’t yet picked it back up again even though I thought it was really interesting. Oops.
Oh, yeah. A good amount of it is because of R.I.P.
I can’t believe I totally forgot about Casual Vacany. I’m looking forward to checking that one out!
It’s weird, because there was always so much press interest in the HP books, JKR didn’t need to do much in her own promotion of the series. It feels really quiet with his one, because the press aren’t all over it. I’m sure in the week before it comes out though, that will change!
Must start reading Heather Brewer soon! Great list!
The first books were really good, don’t know why my reading of them stalled.
Great list! I plan to read The Peculiar too – steampunk/fairytale/weird sounds like a winning combination.
It looks really interesting doesn’t it?
I too put a copy of JK Rowling’s new book on pre-order as soon as it became available! Can’t wait to read it. I was always curious about what she’d write next, and I’m glad she’s gone for something completely different.
I’ve pre-ordered it on my Kindle. So, I’ll be sat watching it refresh on release day!
I’m looking forward to JK Rowling’s new book too! I just put the Stefan Bachmann book on hold at the library. I haven’t heard of it before, but it looks like one I might really enjoy.
Stefan Bachmann, is apparently a bit of a musical prodigy as well, and still a teenager… Hate him already!
J.K.’s first non-Potter foray will be interesting–definitely on my list. And this is the first I’ve heard about the new Pratchett novel. I might have to check that out. Thanks for the tip, Darren!
Always happy to spread some Pratchett news!
The Casual Vacancy is on my Top Ten this week too.
It looks to be on a few peoples… Can’t imagine why!
