I can’t quite believe it’s that time of year again, or that Carl’s R-eaders I-mbibing P-eril event now has a number 7 tacked on the end (that can’t be right surely!
)
For those that have never heard of the event, I’ll let Carl tell you about it:
Seven years ago the autumnal mood birthed R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril, or R.I.P. for short, a participatory event wherein we the people spend however little, or much, time we want over the months of September and October imbibing all things ghastly and ghostly.
The purpose of R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril VII is to enjoy books and movies/television that could be classified (by you) as:
Mystery, Suspense, Thriller, Dark Fantasy, Gothic, Horror, Supernatural, Or anything sufficiently moody that shares a kinship with the above.
As ever there is selection of levels to participate at, and I’ll be aiming for Peril the First. (Read four books from any of the genres) and I’m also hoping to get to a couple of films, I’ve had sitting around on bluray for a while. (I’m as bad at TBW-ing films as I am at TBR-ing books! Thankfully I don’t buy anywhere near as many films!)
And then in October, I’ll definitely be taking part in The Graveyard Book Group Read. It’s one of my favourite books, and I think I might let Neil read it to me via the wonderful audiobook version.
I’ve not got together a reading pool just yet, my shelves are in far too much of a mess at the moment to even contemplate digging though them!
I’ll be tracking my progress in the sidebar, so keep an eye out for links to reviews and stuff!

The audio version of The Graveyard Book is so fantastic. I highly recommend it. I keep telling myself that I’m going to go back to actually ‘reading’ the book this time but I don’t know if I can resist the siren call of the audio book. It is just too good.
I’m with you in that it seems impossible that this could be year 7. I think I went back to last August a half dozen times to double check that last year was year 6, lol! Also wild to think that we are 1 day removed from it being September.
Thanks for joining in with us Darren. I’m thrilled you’ll be doing Graveyard Book too, it is a favorite of mine as well.
Oh. I’ve listened to the audiobook a couple if times
And we can pretend it’s only #5 (or even #3) if you wish!
Can’t wait to see what you end up reading! And watching, for that matter.
I’m looking forward to seeing what I come with to read and watch myself!
I can’t wait to see your reading pool! Most likely I’ll add a few titles to my own list. Happy reading.
