For my Saturday Snapshot this week I thought I’d post a shot I took the Friday before last at a local event I’ve been attending recently. Once a month there’s a record club, where a few people get together and listen to an eclectic mix of new and classic music on vinyl, drink the odd beer (and there’s usually some nibbles to munch on) but mostly get together with friends and chat.

The photo (originally taken in Instagram) is of another Darren (one of the organisers) Instagramming a shot from the night. All very meta!.
I’ve also been playing with another image app on my iPhone called PicTwo which allows to merge two images together and tweak them so you can create a different effect. so I thought I’d also post what I’d done with this one. I think I prefer it. A little more atmosphere I think.

Which version do you prefer?

Great pictures! I’m not sure I could pick a favorite — I do really like that first one because of the “vintage” feel, but that second one is so cool, too — I will have to look into that PicTwo program for my iPhone!
I’m having a lot of fun with PicTwo, but I’ve not had much success merging two ‘proper’ photos yet, but merging in a texture like I did with this one, seems to work quite well.
I like the first one; well done.
Thanks!
The last one, definitely. It looks very cool.
I haven’t tried anything like that yet, I have to see if PicTwo is available for android phones too.
It’s a fun little app, so I hope it is.
I like the first – the silhouette is more defined.
Yeah, the fact that it is in silhouette, is one of the things I like about both photos, but yes the first one is stronger in that way.
First one does it for me – it’s what my daughters would call ‘retro’ and feels really atmospheric, reminds me of Top of the Pops when I was very young and everything was in black and white. That’s a compliment, by the way! My Snapshots are at http://chriscross-thebooktrunk.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/parisian-pictures-take-two.html
Oh, that’s alright. I can remember when TOTP was on and people still watched it!
Oh wow, those are pretty cool. I’ll have to look into getting those apps!
Thank you. Instagram is definitely an obsession!
Very cool. It’s nice that you’ve discovered ways to manipulate the photo to add to the intrigue. Here’s Mine
That’s a very cool program that you did the second picture with! I wonder if I can get it for my phone…
I like the second best. Very nice.
The bottom picture does have a very fun feel too it – I like the effect too.
Thank-you.
I definitely like the creativity of the second one – it’s starting to look a bit like a painting.
Thanks. I like the fact that the grainy effect, feels like listening to proper records.
What a thoughtful and sensitive shot. I really appreciate the lack of lighting. It conveys a tenderness and a real love for music. Beautiful, really beautiful. Here’s my shot for this Saturday: http://zaraalexis.wordpress.com/2012/07/07/saturday-snapshot-07-07-2012/
Thank you.
What a fun thing to get together and do–there seems to be a group for everyone.
Love the old style of the photo to go with the old records.
Thanks. It was a quick ‘snap’ initially. But it really did seem to capture the feel of the night.
What an awesome idea!! I totally love that!! And I love the photo too Darren
The second is my fav
It’s a great night. I love my iPhone and MP3s but, there’s definitely something special about vinyl.
I really like the atmosphere in that second photo. Very nice! And it’s nice to have a record club to share your love for vinyl…my husband got interested in the old records for a while, but that’s tapered off. He might have kept up with it if he’d had a “support group.”
Here’s my Snapshot.
I got rid of most of my records years ago, and the record player is buried somewhere in a cupboard somewhere, so I don’t really have the opportunity to listen to them at home any more.
