Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about a keeping books.
Do you keep all the books you ever buy? Just the ones you love? Just collectibles? What do you do with the ones you don’t want to keep?
A few years ago, I nearly always kept most of my books that I bought, but as I’m not a major re-reader of books, I decided there wasn’t really much point. So in a ruthless cull, some time back, I put nearly everything up on either ebay or Bookmooch, including a huge Discworld collection! And emptied my bookshelves. (A good job considering the size of my TBR pile these days!)
The shear ruthlessness of it, completely broke any need I had to keep every book I own, so I don’t even flinch anymore when a book leaves the house.
The ones I do keep tend to be the book or series I love, Harry Potter for example, or ones that just have a gorgeous cover (as long as I actually liked the book as well) I’m also more inclined to keep all the graphic novels I buy.
Still, most books (I’d say about 60%) tend to get moved on sooner rather than later.
