Mailbox Monday: Catch-Up
So, other than my Christmas Day booty, I’ve not done one of these for a while, as I’ve been trying to be a good boy don’tcha know! *ahem* Anyways moving on…
What with a birthday as well, I obviously acquired more than two books over the festive period, so here they are:

Chronicle of a Death Fortold by Gabriel García Márquez: Eva’s fault this one
I’ve wanted to read some Márquez, but to be honest I’ve always been a little intimidated by it! So when Eva mentioned this novella during the last read-a-thon, I just had to mooch a copy. (Which I did before my book-acquisition ban started it just arrived over Christmas so no falling-off-the-wagon here!)
Graceling by Kirstin Cashmore: A Christmas present this one (well bought with a Christmas book voucher anyway!) I think I’m one of the last people to get this one, but it was Becky who first brought it to my attention so a Bad Blogger’s point for her!
The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Burbery: Offered by the publisher for review. But I’m sure as for many, this one was brought to my attention by Dewey. So a point for the much missed Dewey.
Ah… and this is where the naughtiness begins, technically I’ve not read enough from my TBR pile to receive these, but in my defence I have read enough non-qualifying books to count
for one of them, so we’ll just mark that as one over and not’ mention it again, eh?
The Bird Room by Chris Killen: Received via the LibraryThing Early Reviewer Program. To be honest I requested it without much thought of actually receiving it, so this one was a bit of a surprise. Looks fun though!
Paper Towns by John Green: Do I need an excuse?
- Bad Bloggers: Is hosted by Chris of Stuff as Dreams are Made on.
- Mailbox Monday: Is hosted by Marcia, of The Printed Page. Head over there if you want to see what everyone else has received in the last week or you want to play along.

Yay! You should NEVER feel guilty about Marquez! lol Or feel intimated by him; he is the awesome.
I’ll look forward to reading him then!
I’m glad you include the cover art — it’s always nice to see how different the covers can look between American and British publishers. I think Paper Towns looks much nicer from the Brits!

Jo´s last blog ..2010 — I’m up for a challenge (or two…)
I’d love to say it was the UK cover, but it’s actually the US paperback! For some inexplicable reason, John Green’s books don’t sell that well over here and so he doesn’t have a UK publisher…

Not that a little thing like that is going to stop me!
I am trying desperately to avoid getting any new books to read as I have 100s of free ebooks and 10s of library holds. And yet, I’ve already collected 4 new books this year (not including the ones I got for Christmas)–2 from the LibaryThing program. Like you, I wasn’t expecting to actually get an LT book, let alone two.
Now you have me contemplating more books, darn you. I have also been tempted by Marquez, but also intimidated. Maybe I’ll get around to reading one this year after all. I’ll let you go first.

Anysia (Booklorn on Twitter)´s last blog ..Dear Reader: Is it 2010 already?
LOL None of us have any will power where books are concerned, do we?!
If it’s any help, I haven’t got to reading my copy of “Graceling”?
But on the rest… That’s not bad going for your attempt to cut back on new books! Truly, it’s not. First time I tried to limit my book-intake I wound up with 20(!) books in less than a month. Which I may have mentioned ages ago because I like mentioning that number. ^-~ (And, anyway, it’s still reducing your TBR pile even if you break your own rules on rare occasion, right?)
(Also, horridly belated, but… happy birthday! ^-^)
Shanra´s last blog ..Lord of the Rings Read-along!
Those all look like great books – can’t wait for your reviews! Screw the TBR ban when it’s Christmas and Birthdays to celebrate!
Amused´s last blog ..My Ghetto 2010 Reading Journal
I’m glad you got Graceling in print. The audio production was poor enough to have ruined the book a bit for me. And that’s saying something because I am such an audio fan.
Beth F´s last blog ..Today’s Read: Battle Royal by Koushun Takami
Happy Late Birthday!! Mine is coming up in a few days and I have my fingers crossed that at least one of my family members takes the hint and gets me a book gift card. I have so many books on my wishlist!!
Looks like you got a nice selection there!

Hope you have a great Birthday full of bookish goodness!
