Finished David Almond's latest, Raven Summer. I thought it was haunting, provocative, and brilliant. Taught by Roman Catholic nuns, EVIL was drilled into us from the moment we entered the classroom until the moment we left. So, we thought about it a great deal. Of course, at age eight, preparing for my "First Confession," I was somewhat at a loss as to the EVIL things I should (could), confess. I was baptized, so that EVIL was "washed" away. This was in the early 50's, a rather innocent time, unlike what today's youngsters deal with on a daily basis. Violence wasn't splashed all over the headlines, television, radio, and movies. But the questions, Raven Summer addresses are timeless. The answers are not.

Oh...I've heard of that one!! After the first of the year, I'll have to pick it up. Right now, I'm emotionally drained. I just finished The Ask and the Answer tonight.

Wow. I hadn't even heard of David Almond until recently. Sorry this one didn't quite meet your expectations. Is there another Almond you would suggest?

Sorry that this didn't hit the mark. I still will probably read it, though. :)

Speaking of buddy reads... I was waiting for a picture? :)
