Okay, this one should be fun… *Installs flaming barrier*
My top ten Harry Potter & Discworld characters posts, went down well, and a lot of fun was had debating the choices. So I thought with the release of the 2nd Twilight film (New Moon for those living under a rock) I’d do the same with the Twilight gang.
I’ll start with making it clear that despite being inspired to post by the upcoming movie. I’m talking about the book characters here, not the film actors
and that any favoritism shown to a particular character has no relevance to shipping preferences. (This will become important when you make it to the top-ten!)
Feel free to disagree with my selection in the comments and post your own in the comments. (But, and this is a BIG but.) Play nicely, feel free to tell me that I’m wrong, but no flaming either me or anyone else. Any comments I feel are not playing by these rules will be summarily deleted. Saying all that, have fun!
- Alice (I mean, who doesn’t like Alice?)
- Charlie
- Carlisle
- Jacob (Remember what I said about having no relevance to shipping, remember that, when you comment!)
- Mike
- Seth
- Jasper
- Rosalie (Can be a nasty piece of work, but here mainly for her interactions with Jacob in Breaking Dawn!)
- Edward (I could hardly leave him off the list, and really the gap between 2-10 is very small anyway)
- Bella (As a character, she is designed so readers can insert themselves into the story, whether into the character of Bella herself or just into the story. So even though she is the main protagonist, for much of the story she can’t be the strongest, as that is not her job. Doesn’t mean I don’t like her though. (I don’t even find her as whiny as some!)
Over to you, who are your favourites?
Just to say once more, please play nicely, feel free to tell me that I’m wrong, but no flaming either me or anyone else. Any comments I feel are not playing by these rules will be summarily deleted. Saying all that, have fun!

You’re probably safe until the search engines find the post…
You brave, brave person!
What do you mean, you don’t find her (Bella) whiney?? Are you crazy? She is possibly the most annoying character in all literary (and I will use that term loosely!) history!! Made me even think about renaming my daughter, Bella!! All right. That was a BIT of an exaggeration. I enjoyed the books. I loved Alice. Liked Edward through most. Liked Jacob through most. Took them for what they are. I just can not get into the hysteria over this series!!
I honestly don’t find her all that annoying! Yeah she is at times, but she seems to have a reputation of being so from page 1 of Twilight to the last page of Breaking Dawn, and I don’t think that’s fair…
I did enjoy the books and I can see why people love them, but yeah, the hysteria, pretty much passes me by.
I have only read the first two books (have no interest in going further), but I’d have to agree with you on Alice. She’s really the only character I consistantly liked.
The third book, Eclipse is probably my favourite in the series. But yeah, Alice is most definitely cool!
I agree with you on Alice – she’s great! – but I’d have moved Jasper up closer to the top. His backstory is possibly the most interesting of them all. And he and Alice go so well together.
And I’m joining stormfilled in waving my big huge flag for Team Jacob. LOVED him in the books. In fact, I just reread my reviews of the series and realized that I wrote that I’d like Edward to die off so Jacob could get the girl. ~LOL~
That’s a bit harsh!
I’d move Carlisle up to #2, Jasper to just below Jacob, and Charlie further down. And maybe stick Emmett in there somewhere, just because he seems like he’d be good at annoying Edward.
I though annoying Edward was Jacob’s job.
The more people (-slash-vampires-slash-werewolves) out there annoying Edward, the better!
I would keep Alice on top, add Jasper next. I also love Esme and think the books left her out too often. I think Rosalie is misunderstood and is a great character. I really really like Seth. I think Emmett is a great character. I loved Kate and Garrett from Breaking Dawn. Hmmm…now what to do about Edward, Bella and Jake…well you couldn’t have the stories without them…
