Mailbox Monday is hosted by Marcia, of The Printed Page. Head over there if you want to see what everyone else got last week or you want to play along & Bad Bloggers is hosted by Chris of Stuff as Dreams are Made on.
Kit’s Wilderness by David Almond Nobodies fault this one, although… It is sorta Nymeth’s fault for making me want to read him again…
Ingo by Helen Dumore: I’ve seen this one about a time or two, and on Saturday when I went to check out a couple of local bookshops I’d discovered it was in the second hand section, what’s a reader to do?!
Gold by Dan Rhodes: Another impulse by on my book forage. (New this time though)
Borderliners by Peter Høeg: And again! (In my defense, it will help out nicely with the Lost in Traslation Challenge!)
Seraph of Sorrow: by Mary Janice Davidson and Anthony Alonghi: A series I’d probably not have touched it it wasn’t for Bookmooch, but I’m addicted now and this is the latest one.
Sweethearts by Sarah Zarr: NEVER in a million years would I have bought this book, just for the cover alone. But I did and that would be Nymeth’s fault!
The Sinful Life of Lucy Burns by Elizabeth Leiknes: Bancroft Press’ fault! I know that quite a few of you have been contacted by this publisher and have been plesantly surprised by the fact they actually appear to have taken the time to skim our blogs and taylor thier offerings, I had a lovely email conversation with one of their team when what they offered wasn’t quite my cup of tea, when he mentioned this one, even though it still could be considered too chick-lit for my normal tastes I was intrigued and impressed enough by them that I wanted to help out. Some of the major house could learn a lot from these guys!
The worst thing about all of this is that the 6 ‘purchased’ books all came into the house on Saturday and The Sinful Life arrived today!
Don’t forget if you want to add to your own TBR piles I am currently holding a giveaway for two young adult books!

I read Borderliners a long time ago and I was actually the only person in my class that didn’t like it! It was a seminar on YA lit in college. I hope that you do like it, of course, I’ll be interested to see what you think.

I just got a lovely email from Bancroft Press offering The Sinful Life of Lucy Burns to me. I don’t normally get e-mails like that, but I was flattered he had taken the time to read some of my blog (he knew I’d recently had my blogoversary) before sending a book. I agree, it looks a little more chick-lit than the books I normally read, but I’m looking forward to it anyway.

I just wanted to do my bit to help promote their books, I was that impressed my their initial and follow-up communications!
It looks like the kind of thing I’d normally enjoy, so I remain hopeful I’ll like it!
Guess what, I haven’t heard of ANY of these aside from Sweethearts, which I have sitting on my TBR shelf. So I’m sure you’ll be getting lots of points for the rest of them

The Sinful Life of Lucy Burns looks intriguing. And how cool that they took the time to try to tailor the offering to your taste. Definite points!

Great to hear, I’m looking forward to it!
I hope you enjoy Sweethearts! And Kit’s Wilderness sounds really good – can’t go wrong with Almond! I think Valentina reviewed Gold a while ago, and it sounds excellent too.

Hi Bart, I have been lurking on your blog for a little while now and finally commenting. I am thoroughly impressed with Bancroft. Its nice to see them look at our blogs and thinking that a certain book matches your blog. I got the Sinful Life Of Lucy Burns too. Have you read it yet? I read it for the 48 HBC and I actually liked it. Cute story. Thanks for commenting on my blog. Looking forward to getting to know you.
