omg, totally cannot believe I forgot Dan Brown for most overrated author! Considering my vents on him (especially with the new movie coming out) you would think he was on my mind! And, you know, I must say I am quite shocked you have somehow managed to never read Shakespeare… How did you manage that? I wish I could manage that! If the question had said dead overrated author, it so would’ve been him! I am off to look up this Douglas Adams book that I have never heard of before!

Oh yes, we had to read Chocolate War too – uggh I think I hate it because it gets so much attention as being so amazing, I can’t see it myself. It was boring and completely predictable.

I’m amazed that you’ve not read Shakespeare – we had to at least one thing by Will every year at school. Gotta love required reading :P

Kailana took the words right out of my mouth – “omg, totally cannot believe I forgot Dan Brown” – Seriously DaVinci Code was just brain-numbing. It just occurred to me that the public reaction to Dan Brown and Stephenie Meyer were eerily similar.

I have to agree with your answer to 29…wish I would’ve thought of that :p I have this bloody (my attempt at British slang :p) copy of The DaVinci code that I’ve yet to part with because I paid so much for it…I thought that it would be cool to get the expensive one with all of the pictures of the artwork and didn’t even get half way through it…hated that book. I need to just have it begone!

Totally agree with you on Neverwhere…I’d love to see it made into a movie. I liked the BBC version of it too, but it would make such a fantastic movie. It screams “make me into a movie.” I did hear on Neil’s blog that there’s talk of an Anansi Boys movie! That would be cool.

And I learned something new about you! I didn’t know that Pratchett was your favorite author!

I read Last Chance to See … years ago, and loved it. I see Stephen Fry is making an updated version with Adams’ co-author. In fact, they came here …

This meme has something like twice the amount of questions the one I did (It’s the same just abbreviated. You can tell by how the questions are the same, apart from the ones left out. ^-~). You’ve never read Shakespeare? I too want to know how you managed that! (Okay, so I’m doing an English degree.)

For something slightly more related, you’ll be happy to know I have no desire or intention to come near Dan Brown’s works. (Although that’s not so much about love or hate as that I have zero interest in the genre he writes in.)

  7. Carl V. says:

Very fun to read your answers to this one! Although I think you should reveal your literary character loves!!! ;)

I too would love to see Neverwhere get the big budget treatment…but from a studio that would respect the work better than they did with Stardust. Someone with the love for the material like the people who made Coraline. It is one of my absolute favorite books and although I do enjoy the BBC version, it is a film with so much visual excitement that it would be great to see on screen.

How to Talk to Girls at Parties is an interesting story. I only thought it was so-so the first time I read it, but later when I listened to the audio version of Fragile Things and heard Neil Gaiman read it I was blown away by it. Fantastic!

  8. Adele says:

that Neverwhere was such compulsive viewing I think is a huge credit to Gaimans writing, I think #3.50 might be overstating the budget and some of the actors where fab, but some of them not so much. Overall I loved it though.
