Weekly Geeks 2009 #1
It’s time again for the regular Weekly Geek meme, it’s a bittersweet moment, now that Dewey is no longer here to run things, but the community she built, is still there and has stepped up to the plate to continue what Dewey started.
In the spirit of the amazing community building that Dewey was so good at, tell us about your favourite blogs, the ones you have bookmarked or subscribe to in your Google Reader, that you visit on a regular basis. Tell us what it is about these blogs that you love, that inspire or educate you or make you laugh. Be sure to link to them so we can find them too.
So, who to pick out of the plentiful bunch of feeds in Google Reader? Well that’s going to be difficult, so what I’m going to do is pick out a few from those I comment most often on
Things Mean a Lot
http://thingsmeanalot.blogspot.com/
What can I say, I think know, there is many a bookshelf across this community that curses Nymeth’s name
groaning as they are – under the weight of yet another TBR addition jammed into it, as a result of one of her fabulous reviews. When Nymeth really likes a book, few can resist adding it to there wishlists!
Stuff Dreams are Made on
http://stuffasdreamsaremadeon.com/
One of a select group – the male bookblogger – Chris is another of those who has been adding books to my TBR pile recently, not helped by the fact we appear to have similar reading taste, which almost guarantees that anything he recommends – even if I don’t love like he does – I will at least enjoy (for example, The Good Faries of New York) Chris falls victim to Nymeth’s reviews, just about as often as I do.
Stainless Steel Droppings

There are can be few in the book blogosphere that that not come across Carl’s blog, host of the wildly popular R.I.P & Once Upon a Time challenges, and the current Sci-Fi Experience, Carl is a genial host of all three events, and puts a hell of a lot of effort into making fun things to be apart of.
Blue Archipelago
http://www.clareswindlehurst.com/bookreviews/
Clare is one of the first blogs I came across in the in the book blogosphere, her reviews are always interesting to read and she changes her site’s skin nearly as often as I do!
So there you go, 4 of the blogs I visit most often, inside and outside of Google Reader.
The new home for Weekly Geeks can be found here.

Thanks for linking me Bart! I have to do this one later on. We should start a revolution and put out a call for male book bloggers! lol…Totally agree with you on Nymeth…she’s probably responsible for at least 1/3 of my over 200 books TBR shelf. If anyone should have job as a professional reviewer it’s her! Or maybe she should be an editor…I’d read any book that she gave the ok on! I see you’re reading Old Man’s War right now! I have that one up next on the TBR pile as soon as I finish my current read. Looking forward to comparing notes.
Chris´s last blog post: Enslaved by Ducks by Bob Tarte
I’d feel better about “Old Man’s War” being up there, if I’d actually started reading it!
Time to read sice Christmas has been practically non-existant
Still, look forward to your thoughts on it though.
Oh, more blogs to explore! These look wonderful. Thanks for the great post.

You welcome! It was a fun post to write.
Hooray for male book bloggers. (I’m not one, but I’m in favor of them).
I came “this close” to mentioning Stuff Dreams Are Made On on my WG post, but I had reached the limit I set and it’s a fairly new blog to my reader (thanks to the Dewey Book Challenge).

I’m sure you’ll be spending a lot of time reading Chris’ blog!
Yep, I blame Nymeth for a lot of things. all good, of course. I was so glad to see you on Mr. Linky at the weeklygeek site because I forget that you were to be a TOP priority to visit today. When GT sited you, I thought to myself, OH! gotta visit!!
OMG! You have me as a TOP BOOK BLOG over on the right!??! wow. huh. Thanks. (and I, too, won’t delete our The Hidden Side of a Leaf, sniffle.)
Happy New Year, Happy Weekly Geeking!

Happy New Year, to you too!
We do indeed seem to be a rarity! Solidarity, brothers!!! My friend Jeff, who comments often, is going to be joining the blogging world so we can soon count one more among us.
Thank you so much for the compliments, I appreciate it. It is great fun doing what I do, because of all of you. 2009 will be filled with much more fun!
Dewey is missed and I’m thrilled to see people carrying this on in this way.

It’s obviously a case of quality, not quantity!
Awww, thank you Bart
I’m flattered and thrilled to be in such great company. Also, I like Chris’ career plans for me…now if only someone would hire me
Nymeth´s last blog post: Hero by Perry Moore
I’m sure Chris and I can work out an agent’s fee…
Nymeth is on my list as well. I hate to think how many books she’s added to my want list already
Maree´s last blog post: Weekly Geeks
*shudders* just thinking about mine

Welcome to the Weekly Geeks, I’m sure there are going to be some differences to what has gone before, but I’m looking forward to what the new gang come up with for us!
Well Nymeth does keep adding to our book piles. Its ok, I think!
On my weekly geeks, I did focus on Male bloggers. Despite Chris being there on my google reader, I somehow missed him out. Entirely my loss!
gautami tripathy´s last blog post: Weekly Geeks is back
I forgot to say, thank you for linking to me in your post!
Well, Chris is responsible for The Good Faeries of NY being on my TBR list, so Nymeth is taking over the world, one blogger at a time.

She is sneaky like that!
I’ve come in from Weekly Geeks too. Will we ever get our TBRs read?
