New Books for the Bookshelf

Yep, just like everybody else, and despite the fact I have a healthy sized TBR pile as it is, I couldn’t resist acquiring some more books during September. :D

I’m going to excuse myself for the last two, as I picked them up at my local Oxfam shop (so I was giving money to a good cause!), and they are both slim enough to be perfect for the upcoming 24 Hour Read-a-Thon, and are by an Italian and a South African author respectively, and will complete the [intlink id="561" type="post"]Orbis Terrarvm Challenge[/intlink] for me! (Well those are my excuses and I’m sticking to them!)

Books Read

  1. [intlink id="1117" type="post"]The Foreshadowing[/intlink] by Marcus Sedgwick ★★★★
  2. [intlink id="1106" type="post"]Witch Hill[/intlink] by Marcus Sedgwick ★★★★
  3. [intlink id="1083" type="post"]Blue Pills[/intlink] by Fredrik Peeters ★★★½
  4. [intlink id="1057" type="post"]Pendragon #2: The Lost City of Faar[/intlink] by D.J. Machale ★★★★ [Audiobook]
  5. [intlink id="1038" type="post"]Pendragon #1: The Merchant of Death[/intlink] by D.J. Machale ★★★★
  6. [intlink id="1022" type="post"]Moonheart[/intlink] by Charles de Lint ★★★½ [Audiobook]
  7. [intlink id="999" type="post"]Three Shadows[/intlink] by Cryil Pedrosa ★★★★

Challenges Update

Where does this months reading leave my challenge lists? Well four of them qualify for uncompleted challenges, with Moonheart clocking up one for the [intlink id="577" type="post"]Mythopoeic Challenge[/intlink] which takes me to 2/7, and The Foreshadowing, Witch Hill & Three Shadows all count for the R.I.P III Challenge, which sorta means I’ve completed it! as I originally plumped for the two book version, however as I have already read 3 and have one more on the go, I’ve upped this to the ‘Peril the First’ version of four books. (and the likelihood is I’ll almost double that, as I have another couple or so I’d like to read.

Search Terms

Bit, of a boring month this time round for interesting search terms, still lots of people searching for a Beedle called Bart, though, which makes me smile every time – and yes I know keeping on mentioning it is going to increase the amount of searches landing here ;) – still one I did manage to dig out one or two that are worthwhile bringing up.

  • breaking dawn stephanie meyer international covers
Various international covers can be found on Stephanie Meyers own site: Twilight | New Moon, she doesn’t appear to have any up for Eclipse or BReaking Dawn though.
  • contact info marjane satrapi
A usual route would be via her publisher.
  • how old is marcus sedgewick
Well, Wikipedia says he was born in 1968, which would make him 40.

My dad’s been on my case to read A Short History of Nearly Everything for a long time now. I’m not sure why I’ve been resisting; I liked the one other of Bryson’s books that I’ve read. Maybe I’ll wait and see if you like it enough to finally convince me to read it. :)

@Fyrefly: Not sure when I’ll get to reading it myself either, I’ve always enjoyed his travelogues, however I’ve always liked his factual stuff (not that travel books aren’t factual, but you know what I mean!)

  5. Nymeth says:

You got some great books! I especially want to read the first two. And you’re right, even trying to resist Oxfam is just wrong :P

  9. A Short History of Nearly Everything has been there with me for three years. Despite liking Bill Bryson I have not got around it. Some good books out there but I am going to resist any to add to my TBR pile.
