Sunday Salon | Sunday 6th July
Well, for my first Sunday Salon, post I though I might take a look at what I read during June. Why, well June (and the 24 Hour Read-a-Thon) has provided a second wind to my self imposed challenge this year to get back to reading like I did some years ago.

Not a bad haul, all in all, and every one but Stardust and Fathom Five were new reads. Returning to the world of the Wall and Faerie, was a treat and reminded me just how much fun the book is. Fathom Five the second book from, Canadian author James Bow, was my other re-read this month, and read ahead of the release of the third book in the series (possibly towards the end of this year).
Out of my new reads, there was one stand-out read, which was The Invention of Hugo Cabret, an absolutely gorgeous book.
Books I read and reviewed in June:
-
Stardust ~ Neil Gaiman
-
Once upon a Time in the North ~ Phillip Pullman
-
The Invention of Hugo Cabret ~ Brian Selznick
-
Rememering Raquel ~ Vivian Vande Velde
-
Before I Die ~ Jenny Downham
-
My Swordhand is Singing ~ Marcus Sedgewick
-
Nick and Norah’s Infinate Playlist ~ Rachel Cohn & David Levithan
-
Fathom Five ~ James Bow (Reviewed May 07)

Welcome to the Salon. I notice you had reservations about ‘Shadowmancer’. I’m a great reader of YA fantasy and I have to say that I thought this was a really bad book. Have you read any of the others in the series?
Ann (Table Talk)s last blog post..Another Sunday Salon
No, I’ve not read anything else by him as yet, although I do have at least one in my TBR pile.
I second Ann’s welcome to the salon and like you, I’ve read and reviewed Stardust (see here. I will be adding your review to the bottom of my post shortly (maybe after church, otherwise I have a feeling I’m not going to make it). I look forward to reading your thoughts here on Sundays.

I should re-read Startdust. Isn’t there a new graphic novel version? I should give that a try. Glad to have you in the Sunday Salon!
@dewey Yeah, I believe there is, not had chance to check it out yet though.
