If there is an author that has dominated my reading since my teens, then it has to be Terry Pratchett. I have read nearly every Discworld novel he has written, it’s only in the last few years I have got out of the habit of buying them the same week as their release.

As most people will now know, at the end of last year, he was diagnosed with a rare form of early onset Alzheimer’s. This week he has donated $1M (£500,000) to Alzheimer’s research and started to campaign to raise awareness of the comparatively low levels of research funding the disease receives.

Inspired by this, a group of fans have banded together, with the aim of raising the same amount of money – To Match it for Pratchett - and while I doubt I have many visitors to send over over there, if you do have a bit of spare cash, then head over to the site and donate what you can.
