Bookmooch

Reading books can be an expensive habit at times, and I do have to limit my visits to bookshops as a 3 for 2 offer all too easily breaks my resolve, whether or not I already have a pile to read. :)

And I’ve never really enjoyed libraries, there’s something about owning a book that improves it no end, and I hate reading to a timescale.

A few months back I discovered the website Bookmooch.com, an answer that makes the best-of-both worlds, a book to call your own and all for free! .

You basically list all the books you no longer want, and receive points for doing so (.10 for every book) then people can request those books from you, if you accept and send them off you receive a set number of points (1 to your country, 3 to elsewhere) to offset the cost of you posting it out.

And then comes the brilliant bit, you can use those points to mooch (request) free books off of other people.

I’ve almost completely refreshed my collection over the last few months, and you really look forward to the email that lets you know a book on your wishlist has become available, not to mention the soft thump of a padded envelope dropping through your door a few days later!

A selection of books I’m giving away via bookmooch:
