Jennifer Scales and the Ancient Furnace ~ MaryJanice Davidson & Anthony Algoni

Rating: ★★★★☆

Her fourteenth birthday was the last normal birthday Jennifer Scales ever had. Tied to the power of the crescent moon, she is forced as she comes of age to change into something powerful and dangerous. With the help of her father and grandfather, Jennifer must learn to cope with her new reality. But who will help when unfriendly eyes begin to notice what monster lies within her?

Book Mooch, is a fabulous website I’ve mentioned [intlink id="15"]before[/intlink]. I’ve managed to refresh the contents of my bookshelves quite a bit over the last few months. And it’s through an unrelated mooch that I found this little gem, Shrimpy mooched my copy of Twilight from me, and when I was checking her site profile, I was led to her book review blog and taking her recommendation about the series, I searched out a copy of my own to mooch.

And I’m more than pleased I did, Jennifer Scales and the Ancient Furnace is a fast paced story that shifts along at a cracking pace, it’s not the most complicated plot in the world, but the writing of the husband and wife team of Mary Janice Davidson and Anthony Alonghi gets its claws into you from the off and doesn’t let you go until the after affects of the exciting climax fade into the final page.

A pretty reliable sign of a good book is when you immediately want to know more, read more, find out what happens next to the characters you’ve come to enjoy, and I should point out here, that despite it being 1 in the morning when I finished the book, I immediately picked up the second book in the series, Jennifer Scales and the Messenger of Light.
